Naboth’s vineyard- The wicked conspiracy and the divine judgement
Key verse is the story of Naboth’s vineyard- “The wicked conspiracy to slurp your property”. Read the blog to know more- Word from Bible- Vineyard 1Kings 21. It is judgment against the spirit of greed which in Colossians 3:5 is defined as a spirit of idolatry.
The story of Naboth’s vineyard (1 Kings 21) is a biblical account of power abuse, conspiracy, and murder. King Ahab desired Naboth’s vineyard, but Naboth refused to sell his ancestral land. Queen Jezebel orchestrated a fake trial, having Naboth falsely accused of blasphemy and stoned, allowing Ahab to seize the property. But God noticed it all and pronounced divine judgment on the house of Ahab.
Context setting– Humans are a storehouse of abilities. And humans have physical bodies. Spirits have no body although they have powers. A witch doctor or spiritualist, engages with evil spirits and invites them to use his physical body and senses. This allows the evil spirit to control him. The spirit makes him do the will of Satan throughout his life. Evil spirit also teaches him to inflict curses on others. Thus he uses sorcery or evil powers to torment souls. Their aim is to make the soul a failure and implement Satan’s evil plans for the soul.. But Christians are different. Because of the Holy Spirit. In the Spirit world, Holy Spirit is supreme in powers. And His judgments stand for ever.
Understanding the spirit of covertness– The spirit of covetousness is fundamentally a form of greed. It is defined as an insatiable, selfish, and idolatrous wish for more, particularly for what belongs to others. It is an intense craving that disregards contentment, often leading to moral failure and spiritual downfall, with biblical roots linking it to the violation of God’s commandments. Examples in the Bible include Achan, whose greed brought destruction. Judas’s greed resulted in betrayal. Naboth’s death through conspiracy brought divine judgment on King Ahab and Jezebel. Colossians 3:5 identifies it as a form of “idolatry” because the desire for possessions replaces God. Colossians 3:5 (ESV) commands believers to “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry”.
When greedy people invoke evil spirits to inflict you, do these things:
- Guard your thoughts. Witchcraft is a battle of mind. Evil spirit set up against you will try to inject thoughts of failure (basically negative ones) to steer your thinking. Remember Bible says- you are what you think. Refer- “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” Proverbs 23:7
- Pray in tongues– Pray for as much time as possible. Praying in tongues basically strengthens our human spirit. So, don’t neglect this.
- Proclaim the promises of God in the Bible– (a few are listed below. Add your personal promises received from Holy Spirit)
- Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
- Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
- Psalm 33:11 The plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.
- Fasts and only pray while you are fasting- Prepare a fasting schedule. Yes, it’s not easy :). But this is the most powerful weapon when used correctly. Most people fast to clock hours. They discharge their regular worldly duties during their fasting time. Such fasting yields only partial results. To have an effective, powerful and deliverance filled fasting- only pray while you fast. Even if you attend Church program and it is not prayer, it may only be partially effective. When you fast lock yourself in a room and pray!
- Mentally picturing the past judgments Holy Spirit has pronounced in such cases. This is powerful. Force yourself to go over the Bible passages and draw them in your mind. And when you confess and proclaim the bible verses, picturing them again and again in your mind.
Beloved, witchcraft is a battle of mind. and fear is the weapon. Fear is first initiated by doubt. And doubt comes when negative thoughts overtake the mind. Christian Faith is divine and of God. And with faith comes the power of the Holy Spirit. This power which is energy of Jehovah sets us free…
Naboth’s Case- The spirit of greed always tries to alter and corrupt justice. God permitted Ahab and Jezebel to act on their evil intentions, allowing them to bring condemnation upon themselves. Naboth was not a man of great power or influence. Yet, God did not let his case go unnoticed. The plan was so evil and the execution so detestable that it aroused God to punish Ahab and Jezebel with similar and even more shameful deaths. God will judge the evildoers. Galatians 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”.
Isaiah 30:18: “For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him”. Shalom friends!
