Why Eve got deceived and how to protect ourselves
Eve got deceived because she heard the voice of serpent and did not handle it the correct way.
Refer to gospel of John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
Here Lord Jesus counsels us to run away from a strangers voice which is nothing but serpents’ voice. Factually, Eve’s situation was a tough one. For this we have to understand that Jehovah God does not give us a lot of insight into His instructions. We are to obey despite little or no insight into His commands. And this is where Satan positions himself – Did God really tell you?
Satan is a master deceiver! We can blame Eve but the truth is many times we have been deceived by Satan and as a result our blessings could not reach us timely.
Based on my experience there are couple ways to handle deception and it depends on how mature you are in Christ.
- One popular way to handle deception is to shine the light of Christ on it. Because truth will always prevail over lies. The best way to do so is to make biblical proclamations. Keep doing it many times till you either get a revelation of your situation or you feel the load lifted off you
- Another way which is exercised much less is to “flee”. When Satan entangles you in a web of negative emotions such as fear or guilt and it starts to weigh you down, just run away from those thoughts and start to meditate on the faithfulness of Lord Jesus in your life and how he delivered you in past times. This gives instant relief
- You can also start worshipping Lord Jesus. Being broken before the Lord is sure way to make it to safe pastures.
- Speak in tongues- I do this a whole lot and this is my preferred way to handle Satans’ deception. I keep speaking in tongues till I can sense a relief in my spirit.
So, from now on, strengthen your will and resolve to test every spirit and resist the ones that are not of God in Jesus name.
And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers
