What is the Test of Endurance
She said, “But, I have given Lord Jesus three weeks to solve my problem or else I will no longer be a Christian.” Have you heard Christians preach this- “Set a timeline for Lord Jesus to deliver on His promise?”
If you dwell upon the “Word of God” you will realise that Holy Bible does not agree with this. In fact, Lord Jesus told Satan “Jesus replied, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ” Matthew 4:7
Establishing a deadline for Lord Jesus to fulfil His promise amounts to putting Lord Jesus to the test. It’s like you make Lord Jesus take an exam; direct Him to finish it within the stipulated time and deliver the desired result. This is not Biblical.
Holy Bible talks about “enduring” with patience. This is where many Christians fall away from grace. They want instant solutions to their problems but the Word of God teaches us to endure afflictions. It means to bear the heavy weight of afflictions without giving in. And for a moment also we should not think that we are alone when we are enduring. When we are walking and remaining firm bearing the pain and shame of sufferings or afflictions or hardships, heavenly grace is bestowed upon us. This grace helps us to endure and to walk into our promise. When grace is released, angels are working alongside us to assist us in every way. Which is why, many of us, despite misfortune, setback, failure are still in the courts of our Saviour, praising Him and thanking Him. It’s because of “His Grace”
Lord Jesus Himself endured the Cross. He was able to take such high degree of pain and shame without grumbling. This was possible only because when He prayed in the garden of gethsemane, an angel visited Lord Jesus to strengthen Him; heavenly grace was released to bear the heavy cross. Holy Bible encourages us to fix our eyes on Lord Jesus and on His enduring power. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrew 12:2.
Endurance develops our character. So, while we are enduring the pain- we are suffering and bearing the heavy yoke of affliction, our true character is revealed. Either we grumble and become bitter or we continue to walk with Lord Jesus- praying, weeping and waiting upon Him.
This test of endurance will reveal our true character. If we still decide to be with the Lord, despite all the pain and shame, heaven will release great grace to help us. Spiritual intelligence will be provided through dreams, visions and prophesies. Holy Spirit will strengthen our human spirit through the Word of God. He will reveal the plan of the enemy and frustrate them. As we continue giving thanks, seeking His face for an answer and walking in His holy fear, Holy Spirit will defend us. We will begin to see victories unfold. Holy Spirit will teach us many things and raise our spiritual rank. This will all lead to character development; a character of a true man/ woman of God. This is when Holy Spirit will catapult us to success. He will bless us with gifts and special graces. And when we are put on public display, people around will see a faithful servant of God. And this is all for His glory! Hallelujah
For you have need of endurance, so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise. Hebrews 10:36
