Birth of Good News and the Fulfilment of it
For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfilment. Luke 1:37
All their years and until their old age, Zachariah and Elizabeth remained faithful to Jehovah, God of Israel. But their prayer request for a child went unanswered. Still, they continued to live in the fear of the Lord. And at the appropriate time, a few months before Christmas, angel Gabriel appeared to Zachariah. It was all planned and events began to unfold as was willed by heaven. And Elizabeth became pregnant. In the sixth month of her pregnancy, angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and also shared the good news of Elizabeth’s pregnancy.
The key point of my blog is that Christmas brings with it the message of a birth, a birth of good news and its fulfilment. Not merely an announcement, but also the fulfilment of it. For Elizabeth, it was the announcement of Good News of pregnancy despite barrenness of many years and then the fulfilment too of those words by the birth of john the Baptist. And since that time, when angel Gabriel announced the Good News to Zachariah and then to Mary, to now and until the coming of the Lord Jesus, Christmas will always remain synonymous with the birth of a Good News and the fulfilment of it. In our lives too, Christmas brings a message of Good News, which the Holy Bible says will come true at its proper time. Luke 1:20-25: “And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time”.
In our own lives too, we have to demonstrate faith, just like Mary did when the angel, Gabriel announced the good news to her. Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” Luke 1:38. Similarly, we also have to continue to believe those words of Good News, our promise and daily announce its fulfilment. And keep doing it until the proper time of it’s fulfilment as set in heaven arrives. We shouldn’t let the serpent trick us as he tricked Eve into doubt and disobedience leading to challenging Jehovah’s words and ultimately into sin.
“Blessed is she who believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her“
Luke 1:35
Despite delays, setbacks, offences, we should continue to announce the fulfilment of the good news of our promise. As we keep pressing in by declaring our promise daily, faith will be revived and we will begin to see its fulfilment by our eyes of faith. This means heaven will start to talk to us about it through dreams, prophecies and heavenly visitations. New spirit songs will start to unfold in our spirits, we will wake up with laughter in our mouths or wake up singing a praise song.. and this is all about heaven connecting with us to bring our promise to fulfilment.
Yes, this is the season of not only the birth of the good news but also its fulfilment, by the power of the Holy Spirit. “The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Highest will overshadow you” Luke 1:35. Our part in the promise is to exercise faith by believing the promise. We don’t rely on flesh for its fulfilment- running pillar to post seeking favour or trying to please people to get what we desire. Rather, we know that the power of God, the Holy Spirit will bring it to past. Nothing is impossible for the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit is all knowing, supreme in wisdom and almighty. He is trustworthy, upright, will never fail us and the lover of our souls. He is all powerful.
This season, let us continue to believe the promise God has given us and more importantly, keep announcing its fulfilment through the power of the Holy Spirit. Shalom!
For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3
