Since the past few years, I have been speaking in tongues at midnight almost regularly. And through this blog, I want to share the effectiveness and the power of praying during the midnight hour going up until 2 am or 3am, right into the early morning hours. Praying at any time is powerful, but, night time carries a special significance. Why? Because mainly for two reasons:

• Evil powers are invoked during this time by spiritualists
• Praying at night time is a personal sacrifice and denial of flesh

In my own experience, midnight prayers are the most powerful specially if one is fighting witchcraft and evil family altars which manifest as generational curses. When I began midnight prayers, I was praying over a vision Holy Spirit had given me about a decade back. The vision is still so real in the eyes of my mind and refuses to fade. How I got hooked to speaking in tongues at midnight? It started when I felt so dry in my spirit man and it won’t go with regular prayers. The dry stretched prolonged for weeks and it was then that I heard a message by an African preacher on praying in tongues at midnight. His message refused to leave my spirit. So, I decided to start speaking in tongues at midnight.

At night, I speak in tongues for minimum two hours at a stretch, if not more. I do not break away in-between. Although, I may sing a song or two or speak a psalm aloud if I find myself getting distracted by other thoughts. Proclamations are an important part of prayer schedule at night. I wait for the Holy Spirit to give me the right proclamation. And initially when I started, I use to miss His leading because I never use to wait on the Holy Spirit for it. But now, since I have been speaking in tongues for sometime, I know that He is around and involved in my prayers. It is very important to know not just in your mind but also in your spirit that Holy Spirit is our partner in making our prayer a sweet and pleasing incense as it goes up to the LORD.

My neighbourhood is infested with witchcraft because of idol worship and new age beliefs. But I hold on to the Biblical truth that as a Christian, greater is the Holy Spirit that is in me than the evil spirits sent by occultist to harm or afflict me. And when I started speaking in tongues at midnight, I did not ever imagine that I would get the kind of results I got from it. The most effective weapon I have found against witchcraft is speaking in tongues at mid-night. It adds muscle to the spirit man!

Love songs: Many times, I wake up in the morning singing songs. A spirit song is a sure sign of a big deliverance and victory. Dreams: Many times I would get dreams where occultists sent curses to afflict me but an angel appreared from no where in the dream and turned it around for my good. At times, in my dreams, when I am attacked by the evil spirit, I could hear myself calling out to the Holy Spirit for help and suddenly the evil spirit would disappear. Physical victories: Now that I have been doing midnight prayers for a while, Holy Spirit has given me many physical victories. One time I fell sick and the infection won’t leave my lungs. I finished the antibiotic course but still the infection remained and grew worse. It was during this time, that one day, I wept before the Holy Spirit inconsolably during the wee hours and towards the end of my midnight prayers. After I finished prayer, I felt light and consoled. Then I went to bed. While I was sleeping, I dreamt that I was lying on the hospital bed. A sister from the Church, a devout Christian appeared in that dream, and told me not to be afraid. Then she went away. I got up from the hospital bed and ran behind her but could not find her. When I came back, I saw that there was someone else lying on that same bed. And I saw myself leaving the hospital. And then I woke up. When I woke up, I felt very happy in my spirit. I stopped all medicines and recovered quickly. Growing in holiness: Day after day, as I kept diligently speaking in tongues at midnight, I noticed that my mental clutter started clearing up. I got a voracious hunger for the Word of God. Holy Bible took over my soul! Victory in dream: One time, I remember just as I was getting up in the morning, I sensed an evil spirit approaching me. It was directed at my soul to give me lustful thoughts and so sin. But then on its own my mind started to dwell on the Word of God. And that evil presence left. Hallelujah!

In my opinion, being consistent at doing midnight prayers proved not only advantageous for me spiritually but also brought me favour from the LORD in other areas like work, relationships, finances etc. Additionally it strengthened me mentally. I started discerning thoughts from evil spirits sent make me sin in my thoughts- thoughts of greed, jealousy, lust, slander etc. I will write another blog on this topic with details of my struggle and the victories I achieved. But for this blog, I desire to maintain focus on the spirit aspect. It is one thing to know spirit things through our mental faculty but when we start to know spirit things through our spirit man, we grow in ranks spiritually. And this is what makes us faith-giants to destroy evil powers, authorities and principalities set up in the heavenly realms to neutralize our Christian faith and make our prayers ineffective.

Lord Jesus is the father of all spirits. All spirits submit to Jesus name. I continue to travail in prayer under satan’s persistent attacks and therefore I continue to prevail and be victorious.
